Automated Rules pause, resume, adjust bids or adjust budgets automatically, on conditions you define.
Typical rules
- Pause a placement that has spent past a threshold with no conversions.
- Cut the bid on a source performing below target.
- Raise the bid on a source performing well.
- Pause a campaign that reaches a spend limit.
- Resume campaigns at the start of a new day.
Everything is logged. Every action a rule takes is recorded with the campaign, the trigger and the change. If a campaign looks different from how it was left, the log says exactly what moved it and when — this is also where AI Optimization records its actions.
How to use them well
Set rules as hard safety limits before you launch, not as a reaction after something goes wrong. A rule that caps spend on a non-converting placement is worth more than any optimization applied later.
Start with a small number of conservative rules. A dozen interacting rules written on day one is very hard to reason about when a campaign behaves oddly.
