Yes. Engagements can be short-term or project-based as well as ongoing.
Good short-term uses
- A launch — extra AdOps and creative review capacity while you onboard a wave of advertisers, scaling back once it settles.
- A defined project — a custom integration, a migration, a platform upgrade.
- Covering absence — holiday or parental leave in a role that can't pause.
- A seasonal peak — Q4 in retail, or whatever your market's equivalent is.
- Trying a function before committing — see how much work a role really involves before hiring for it.
Making short engagements work
- Define "done" upfront. Open-ended short-term work reliably becomes expensive.
- Front-load onboarding. A short engagement has less time to absorb ramp-up, so prepare access and documentation before day one.
- Capture the knowledge. Insist on documentation as a deliverable, or the understanding leaves with them.
When ongoing is the better answer: if the need recurs every month, repeated short engagements cost more in ramp-up than a continuous arrangement. Roles like AdOps and creative review are usually continuous by nature.
