Audio reaches listeners through music streaming, podcasts and digital radio — during activities where no screen is available at all.
Why that matters
Audio occupies moments no other format can reach: commuting, exercising, driving, working. It isn't competing for attention with other ads on a page, because there is no page.
Characteristics
- Full attention on the message, since there's nothing to look at.
- No visual competition — no banner blindness, no viewability question.
- Contextual targeting by genre, station, podcast category and daypart.
- Trust, particularly in podcasts, where host-adjacent placement carries credibility.
Making audio work
- Write for the ear. Copy that reads well often sounds wrong. Say it aloud before producing it.
- One idea per spot. Listeners can't re-read.
- Make the call to action memorable, not visual. "Visit our website" is useless without a screen; a spoken name people can recall later is not.
- Expect delayed response. Someone driving cannot click. Measure uplift and direct traffic, not immediate clicks.
Best for: brand building, recall and reaching audiences who have largely left traditional media.
